Who it's for

Is the Prostate Profile right for you?

  • Men aged 50 and over wanting to assess prostate cancer risk as part of a proactive health check
  • Men aged 45 and over with a family history of prostate cancer
  • Black men aged 45 and over, who carry a two- to three-fold higher risk
  • Lower urinary tract symptoms — reduced flow, hesitancy, frequency or waking to urinate at night
  • Wanting to track PSA-related markers as part of ongoing prostate monitoring
What it checks

5 markers, explained in plain English

This profile combines total PSA with a set of inflammatory markers — interleukin-8, MCP-1 and epidermal growth factor — that feed into a composite prostate cancer risk score. The aim is to give a fuller assessment of risk than PSA alone, helping reduce false positives. It is a screening and risk-assessment investigation, not a diagnosis: a raised result does not mean cancer is present, and a clinician reviews every result alongside your history before advising on next steps.

FAQs

Your questions about the Prostate Profile

How is this different from a simple PSA test? +

A standard PSA test measures one marker. This profile combines total PSA with inflammatory markers and a composite prostate cancer risk score, designed to give a fuller picture of risk and help reduce false positives. A clinician interprets the result alongside your history.

Will this test diagnose prostate cancer? +

No. It is a screening and risk-assessment investigation, not a diagnosis. A raised result does not mean cancer is present — common causes include benign prostatic enlargement and prostatitis. A clinician reviews every result and advises on next steps, which may include referral.

Is there anything I should avoid before the test? +

Certain activities can temporarily affect PSA. Our team will advise on any preparation when you book so your result is as reliable as possible.
