Everything you need to know
Do I need a GP referral?
No referral needed at all. You book directly online, come in for your appointment, and your results are reviewed by our clinical team. It's that simple.
How much do blood tests cost?
Single tests start from £35. Panel tests — which check multiple things at once — start from £135. Full health MOT screens range from £153 to £335.
Do I need to fast before my blood test?
Most tests don't require fasting. Some tests — like glucose, insulin and cholesterol — give more accurate results when fasted (nothing to eat or drink except water for 8–12 hours). We'll tell you clearly when you book if fasting is needed for your chosen tests.
How long do results take?
Your sample is processed at a UKAS-accredited laboratory and you'll be contacted as soon as your clinician-reviewed results are ready. We aim to turn results around promptly; some specialist tests take a little longer.
What happens to my results?
Every result is reviewed by a trained clinician before it reaches you. We'll explain what your results mean in plain English — not medical jargon. If anything needs follow-up, we'll let you know clearly.
Can I book same-week?
Yes. We have appointments available throughout the week including evenings and Sundays, 8am–8pm. Same-week and next-day slots are usually available.
Can I book for someone else?
Yes — you can book a test as a gift or on behalf of a family member. The appointment and results are for the person being tested. Just let us know when booking.
What's the difference between a panel and a single test?
A single test checks one specific marker (e.g. just your vitamin D). A panel bundles several related tests into one blood draw — much better value and you get a fuller picture. For example, our Thyroid panel checks 5 markers instead of just the one TSH that GPs usually order.
Is the clinic CQC-regulated?
Yes. Our clinic is registered with and regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) — the independent regulator of health services in England. All samples are processed in a UKAS-accredited laboratory — the same standard used by NHS hospitals.
Where exactly is the clinic and how do I get there?
Our testing room is inside The Vesey building at Unit 3, The Courtyard, Sutton Coldfield, B75 7BU. Free parking is available directly outside. We're easily reached from Birmingham city centre (A38, about 20 minutes), Lichfield (A5127, 15 minutes), Tamworth (20 minutes), Solihull (25 minutes) and Walsall (25 minutes). Sutton Coldfield train station is a short walk.
How do I prepare for my blood test?
For most tests, no special preparation is needed. Just stay well hydrated — drink plenty of water before your appointment. For tests that require fasting (glucose, cholesterol, insulin), we'll tell you clearly when you book. Fasting means nothing to eat for 8–12 hours; water is fine.
Wear a short-sleeved top or something where the sleeve rolls up easily. Bring your booking confirmation and a form of photo ID.
Can I share my results with my NHS GP?
Absolutely. Your results report is yours to share with whomever you choose, including your NHS GP or any specialist. Many of our patients find their GP is very receptive to private blood test results — particularly for tests the NHS doesn't routinely run, such as detailed thyroid panels, AMH, Lipoprotein(a) and full hormone profiles.
Do you offer blood tests for children?
Most of our blood tests are designed for adults aged 16 and over. For younger children, we offer Alex3 multiplex allergy testing — a single blood draw that screens for 295 allergens including foods, pollens, pets and moulds. For other children's testing, please speak to your GP who can refer to an NHS paediatric service.
