Who it's for

Is the Inflammation right for you?

  • You have unexplained symptoms — aches, fevers, fatigue or feeling generally unwell with no clear cause
  • You get recurrent infections — frequent or lingering infections you'd like investigated further
  • You want a cardiovascular risk check — low-grade vascular inflammation is linked to heart and circulatory risk
  • You're monitoring a known inflammatory or autoimmune condition and want to track your inflammatory markers
  • You're still not right weeks after an infection and want to check for ongoing inflammation
What it checks

7 markers, explained in plain English

This 7-marker panel combines CRP (including high-sensitivity CRP), ESR, ferritin and a full blood count, each reflecting inflammation through a different mechanism and timescale. CRP rises quickly with acute inflammation and infection, while high-sensitivity CRP also flags the low-grade inflammation linked to cardiovascular risk; ESR is a slower, longer-range marker that helps characterise chronic or smouldering inflammation; ferritin acts as an acute-phase marker on top of its role in iron storage; and the white cell pattern within the full blood count helps point towards infection, allergy or other inflammatory causes. Together they give a clinician a fuller picture of both sudden and long-standing inflammation than any one marker alone.

FAQs

Your questions about the Inflammation

What can an inflammation blood test tell me? +

It measures CRP, high-sensitivity CRP, ESR, ferritin and a full blood count. Together these can help a clinician identify or rule out an active infection, a chronic inflammatory condition, or low-grade vascular inflammation. It does not, on its own, diagnose a specific disease — it points to where further investigation may be useful.

Do I need to fast before this test? +

No fasting is required for the inflammation panel. You can eat and drink normally beforehand. Our team will confirm any preparation when you book.

What happens if a result comes back abnormal? +

A clinician reviews every panel before it is released. If something is outside the normal range, we explain what it means in plain English and recommend sensible next steps — which may include a GP appointment, a repeat test, or onward referral. This test is a screening investigation and is not a substitute for a clinical diagnosis.
